Bangor, ME: The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation reaffirms its commitment to communities across Northern New England by awarding more than $106,000 in grants to 23 nonprofit organizations. The funding will be used to support initiatives that improve community wellbeing, enhance transportation and housing accessibility, and bring awareness to healthcare services.“These organizations offer solutions to critical causes in our communities. They help individuals overcome educational accessibility challenges, provide stable housing for those in need, offer transportation solutions, and ensure access to quality healthcare and employment opportunities,” said Mark Paluzzi, SVP, Director of New Hampshire Development and New Hampshire Wealth Market Leader, Bangor Savings Bank. “These grants awarded will further support this work, which aligns with The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation’s mission of creating more vibrant and livable communities.”
Among the recipients is the Friends of New Hampshire Drug Courts (FNHDC) in Concord, NH. A recipient of a $5,000 grant, FNHDC is the nation's first statewide drug court. Drug courts divert non-violent drug offenders into treatment and supervision instead of incarceration. The FNHDC supports diversion programs and addresses program barriers like housing, transportation, health, and employment. This grant will help participants complete the program, secure services to maintain long-term recovery from substance use disorder, and realize their potential while helping families and building resilient communities.

Lamoine Community Arts (LCA) is an all-volunteer community theater. Its mission is to enrich Lamoine and surrounding communities with performing and visual arts. With the grant, LCA will enhance accessibility by paving its parking surface, ensuring all audience members can enjoy their performances.

The Larry Labonte Recovery Center provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals seeking resources for substance use disorder and mental health wellness. The center will use grant funds to continue offering vital services for individuals and families affected by substance use disorder and co-occurring disorder. These include facility maintenance, program materials, and technology infrastructure.
