BANGOR, Maine – The newest parking spots for Bangor waterfront concert goers will raise money for nonprofits in the greater Bangor area.
Bangor Savings Bank is launching the Parking for a Cause program, and will open the parking garage attached to its new operations center along Main Street to the public for most concerts this summer. Bangor Savings will charge $20 for parking and will donate 100 percent of net proceeds to 18 area nonprofit organizations.
“We’re excited to launch this new community program and give concert attendees extra incentive to park close to the concert entrance,” said bank President and CEO Bob Montgomery-Rice. “We’ll support different nonprofits each year, and look forward to seeing how the program benefits great organizations throughout the Bangor region.”
The parking garage will have space for about 400 cars, and nonprofit organizations in Bangor, Brewer, Old Town, and surrounding towns will benefit from the new program.
The 2019 Parking for a Cause proceeds will be distributed evenly to these organizations at the end of the concert season:
Literacy Volunteers of Bangor, Shaw House, Neighbors Supporting Neighbors Food Pantry, My Friends Place and Unlimited Solutions Clubhouse. Bangor Humane Society Bangor Area Homeless Shelter, Spruce Run - Womancare Alliance, Bangor Area Recovery Network, Brewer Area Food Cupboard, Camp Capella and Wellspring, Inc. Old Town Animal Orphanage, Boys & Girls Club of Bangor, Good Samaritan Agency Furry Friends Food Bank (Eastern Area Agency on Aging), Champion the Cure Challenge and Maine Junior Black Bears.
