Bangor Savings Bank Foundation Awards $576,000 to Nonprofit Organizations in Maine and New Hampshire

Bangor, ME: Continuing its commitment to the well-being of the communities it serves, the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation has awarded $576,000 to various Maine and New Hampshire-based organizations; $251,000 will be granted this year, while another $325,000 will be distributed during the following four years in the form of multi-year grants.
In the Foundation’s latest grant cycle, 21 nonprofits dedicated to enriching the quality of life for communities across northern New England received grant awards. Among the services provided by these grantees: educational programs, food security, building maintenance and restoration, and mental and physical health assistance.

The grants awarded by the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation focus on making communities throughout Maine and New Hampshire more prosperous, more livable, and more vibrant.

LifeFlight Foundation  
Camden, Knox County, ME with a Statewide Impact
 
LifeFlight’s vision is for any individual, in every community, to have adequate access to critical care and medical transport. Funds from this grant will be used to help establish connected simulation education labs through LifeFlight’s Critical Care Academy to improve critical care and medical transport.

Good Shepard Food Bank
Auburn, Androscoggin County, ME with a Statewide Impact
 
The Good Shepard Food Bank works to eliminate hunger in Maine by improving access to nutritious food, building strong community partnerships, and mobilizing the public to participate in the fight to end hunger. This grant will be used to support the Campaign to End Hunger in Maine.

St Mary’s Regional Medical Center
Lewiston, Androscoggin County, ME
 
St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center is an acute care facility, a primary care provider network, and an urgent care and emergency department. With assistance from the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation, this grant will support the move of adult behavioral and mental health services into a newly renovated building.

American Red Cross
Portland, ME with a Statewide Impact
 
The American Red Cross of Northern New England serves 3.2 million residents in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Through this grant, the American Red Cross will purchase and implement contactless temperature screening kiosks to be used at Blood Donation Centers in Portland and across the state of Maine.

Zillman Art Museum, University of Maine System, Inc.
Bangor, Penobscot County, ME
 
The Zillman Art Museum is in the heart of downtown Bangor and provides the people of Maine with opportunities to experience visual arts, diverse histories, and cultural traditions. This grant will help with the expansion and enhancement of the museum, adding to the cultural and economic growth of Bangor’s downtown.

H.O.M.E
Orland, Hancock County, ME
 
H.O.M.E. is dedicated to keeping and enhancing the quality of life for low-income and homeless families. They are a primary resource for aiding basic needs of food and shelter in Hancock County. With the support of this grant, H.O.M.E. will purchase an eight-passenger minivan for the homeless shelter program, which will help transport guests to appointments that are vital to achieving housing stability.
