 BANGOR, Maine – The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation made grants to 13 organizations totaling $58,500 during the last quarter of 2016.

The Foundation awards grants, ranging from $2,000 to $25,000, four times a year to nonprofits with worthy initiatives that make Maine communities more prosperous, more livable, and more vibrant.

The 2016 fourth quarter grant recipients were:

Southern Maine: Biddeford Mills Museum, Portland Education Foundation, Manomet, Inc., Brunswick; Intercultural Community Center, Westbrook; and My Place Teen Center, Westbrook.

Mid Coast Region: Friends of the Strand Theatre, Rockland.

Bangor Region: Green Gem Holistic Healing Oasis, Bangor; Holden Land Trust, University of Maine Advanced Structures and Composite Center, Orono; and Windover Art Center, Newburgh.

Western Maine: Hope Association, Rumford.

Central Maine: Vaughan Woods & Historic Homestead, Hallowell; and YMCA Camp of Maine, Winthrop.

The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation was created in 1997 to help fulfill Bangor Savings Bank’s commitment to improving community life in Maine. The Foundation focuses its strategic philanthropy efforts on improving Maine's regional and statewide economy. This includes supporting the economic development, workforce development, and demographic and entrepreneurial health of the regions served by Bangor Savings Bank.

Grant applications are reviewed quarterly and must be received by April 1, July 1, October 1, or January 1 for consideration. Eligible organizations may submit only one application per calendar year.
