PORTSMOUTH, New Hampshire – Bangor Savings Bank President and CEO, Bob Montgomery-Rice, has announced that the Bank will open a new branch at 8 Bow Street in Portsmouth.

The Bangor, Maine-based bank will do a complete renovation of the street-level storefront on Bow Street, maintaining the exterior details of the historic block. The branch will have a staff of five. Construction will begin pending regulatory approval, and the branch is expected to be operational by late summer of 2018.

“We’re excited to be moving forward with another investment in Portsmouth,” said Montgomery-Rice. “Portsmouth is a wonderful, vibrant downtown and we are thrilled to be part of it.”

In October of 2017, Bangor Savings announced an agreement to acquire all Granite Bank locations in New Hampshire including a full-service branch office on Lafayette Drive in Portsmouth. Pending final approvals, the merger will be complete in early April.
