Brewing Up Business: Buoy207 beer launch brings together businesses for good cause

June 22, 2018
One bank, three breweries and 19 locally-owned Portland-area restaurants and entertainment spots are joining forces to show the power of buying local while raising money for the Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine.

The Bangor Savings Bank Buoy Local program rewards consumers for shopping, dining, and using the services of participating local Maine businesses. Bangor-based Buoy Local merchant Geaghan Brothers Brewing is partnering with Foundation Brewing Company and Mast Landing Brewing Company to launch the limited edition Buoy207 American IPA.

Now through June 28 during the Brewing Up Business beer launch coordinated with the Portland Regional Chamber, Buoy207 will be served at 19 Portland-area Buoy Local businesses, and $1 from every pint sold will be donated to the Good Shepherd Food Bank with a matching donation from Bangor Savings Bank.

Buoy207 will be available while supplies last at these Buoy Local businesses: AURA, Bayside Bowl, Binga’s Stadium, Black Crow Burgers, Bolster, Snow & Co. at The Francis, Bull Feeney’s, DiMillo’s on the Water, El Rayo Taqueria (Portland), Foulmouthed Brewing, Five Fifty-Five, Local 188, OTTO, Portland House of Music &
Events, Portland Pie Company, Press Hotel, Ri Ra Irish Pub & Restaurant, Salvage BBQ, Solo Italiano, and TIQA.

A similar Brewing Up Business event with Buoy207 and Bangor-area Buoy Local merchants raised $8,000 for Good Shepherd Food Bank. That money will allow the food bank to provide 32,000 meals to Mainers in need.

More than 400 Maine businesses now participate in Buoy Local, and more than 2,500 people use the new Buoy Local App.

Buoy Local will reward its program users by offering 5x points for any purchases made at any participating Buoy Local business during the Buoy207 event.

“Our Bangor Buoy207 event was a great success, and we’re excited to bring the collaboration to Portland with even more Buoy Local businesses involved,” said Bangor Savings Bank President and CEO Bob Montgomery-Rice. “This collaboration exemplifies how local businesses and organizations can work together to support their
local economy and communities.”

Also, Bangor Savings Bank customers can link their Bangor Savings Bank Debit Mastercard® to the Buoy Local App as an additional funding source for ongoing purchases. Merchants can leverage the Buoy Local App and merchant platform to attract customers with exclusive offers and discounts. The Buoy Local App is free to
download from for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Messaging and data rates may apply for app users.
