BANGOR, Maine – Three well-known Maine-owned businesses came together with one collective goal – to support Good Shepherd Food Bank and area hunger programs. Throughout 2018, Buoy Local, a program of Bangor Savings Bank, partnered with Geaghan Brothers Brewing, Gifford’s Ice Cream, and Governor’s Restaurant to donate a portion of their sales to help fight hunger.
Together with the popular brewery, ice cream maker, and local restaurant and bakery, Buoy Local recently donated $20,000 to Good Shepherd Food Bank. Geaghan Brothers Brewing, Governor’s, and Giffords are three of more than 750 Maine-owned businesses that provide special deals and discounts1 to customers through the Buoy Local App2.
Buoy Local just celebrated a landmark occasion when participating businesses hit the $1 million mark, representing sales generated by participation in the Buoy Local program.
Bangor Savings Bank President and CEO Bob Montgomery-Rice commented, “Working with three Maine businesses that are all meaningful contributors to the state’s local economy just made sense. We each share the belief that shopping local helps a community thrive and what better way to support our local communities than donating $20,000 to help fight hunger.”
