A message from our President & CEO

I write to you again today to share a series of updates and information related to the evolving COVID-19 situation. First, and most importantly, Bangor Savings Bank remains fully committed to ensuring the health and well-being of our employees, customers, and communities. Proactively, we are making updates that will allow us to remain agile as we support our employees while also adapting to the needs of our customers as they adhere to the guidance from public safety officials, such as social and physical distancing. We have not yet had any reported instances of the COVID-19 virus at any of our locations, and are prepared to fully and effectively respond if necessary. Although some of the ways that we provide service and interact with each other has changed in response to COVID-19, we have all of the infrastructure in place to ensure that our products, services, and operations continue seamlessly.
I am pleased to share that Bangor Savings Bank, and the industry in general, remains well capitalized and on a very strong footing. We appreciate your trust in us, and we are honored to serve each and every one of you.
Branch Network Updates
Effective Monday, March 30th, we will be temporarily closing five of our 57 branches. All other locations across Maine and New Hampshire, with updated branch hours, remain open at our drive-ups and by appointment in our lobbies. By temporarily closing these five locations and moving those employees to other locations, we can better enable employees to be home with their families, adapt to the decrease in customer foot traffic, while continuing to provide the same great experience to our customers at nearby locations. Each of the temporarily closed locations are in close proximity to an alternate Bangor Savings Bank location, which are listed in parentheses as follows:

Customers are encouraged to visit our online COVID-19 Resource Center or our Bangor Mobile App for the most up-to-date branch hours which are scheduled for 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM with normal Saturday hours, beginning Monday, March 30th

Commitment to Employees
We remain committed to all our employees and have ensured them that their jobs, including pay and benefits, are secure. I am pleased to share with you that nearly 650 of our employees are currently working from home, where possible. The transition to remote working has been smooth as a result of our prior investment into strong and secure technology platforms. Our employees are also using a mobile app to remain connected to each other via our “Creative Connections” program. Using the app daily to complete photo assignments, trivia challenges, and more helps our team stay connected and have fun together during this time of change and uncertainty.

In an effort to provide our customers with flexibility, care, and support, our teams are working very closely with borrowers impacted by COVID-19 by modifying loans, offering relief loans to consumers and businesses, supporting and navigating customers through non-bank relief programs like SBA, FAME, New Hampshire Business Authority, and more. Commitment to Community
Our commitment to our communities is unwavering. The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation will soon announce the winners of its 13th annual Community Matters More (CMM) grant program. This year’s program will provide more than $140,000 to 55 nonprofit organizations chosen by a public voting process open throughout the month of February.

While we have always been proud to support the many outstanding organizations that help our Northern New England communities thrive, we know that the need has never been more urgent. We look forward to publicly celebrating the Community Matters More grantees and seeing the donations activated to support our neighbors throughout the region.

We have also partnered with the United Way of Eastern Maine to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to meet the short term, immediate needs of individuals and families. Visit the United Way of Eastern Maine to learn more about the COVID-19 Response Fund.

We Are Prepared
We have dedicated Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Teams in place so that we are always prepared. These groups continue meeting frequently to review Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and state and local authorities to make proactive adjustments to our response plan in real-time.
What We Are Doing
In addition to the actions outlined above, we continue to take precautionary measures at all bank locations including regular sanitization of high touch points, enhanced cleaning protocols, ensuring that our employees have the support they need, and providing regular communications and updates to our employees and our customers.
