Families First Coronovirus Response Act (FFCRA)

With many changes affecting businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, it can be challenging to keep up-to-date on everything, especially new laws from the federal government that may impact your business.

While more legislation is in the works, we wanted to provide you with some information on what Bangor Payroll is doing to support the payroll changes needed for the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). Below is a summary of the key provisions and changes you need to be aware of, plus some additional resource links. These provisions take effect on April 1, 2020 and only impact employers with fewer than 500 employees.

As of March 31, 2020:
  • On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, the FFCRA was enacted
  • The FFCRA’s paid leave provisions are effective on April 1, 2020, and apply to leave taken between April 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020.
  • Bangor Payroll is updating our systems so we can deploy the necessary software updates. Please rest assured that we will work with you so you can take advantage of the provisions of this legislation.
  • The Department of Labor (DOL) and IRS have stated that additional guidance and regulations on FFCRA are forthcoming. We will continue to monitor and provide updates as further guidance and regulations are released.
In the meantime, please visit the below links for more information and resources from the Department of Labor.
Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns about these new requirements. Thank you.
