Bank Collects 11,406 Jars of PB&J for Maine, NH Food Pantries

BANGOR, Maine – The 2018 Bangor Savings Bank Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive recently piled up 11,406 jars of PB&J for food pantries and other hunger prevention organizations throughout Maine and New Hampshire.
The 7th annual Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive happened during the month of May at all 58 Bangor Savings Bank branches. Bangor Savings contributed an additional two jars of peanut butter for every “selfless selfie” taken by a contributor to mark their donation on social media.
The Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive started as a way to provide hunger prevention programs with a high-protein food item that is often in short supply and high demand. Peanut butter is one of the most expense items for food pantries to buy in bulk. This was the first year for the drive in New Hampshire.
“It is wonderful to now have two states benefitting from the generosity of those who donate to the Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive,” said Bangor Savings Bank President and CEO Bob Montgomery-Rice. “Every year our customers, local businesses, schools, community members and Bangor Savings Bank employees roll up their sleeves to make the drive a success.”
