Bangor, ME (September 15, 2026): The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation has awarded over $120,000 in grants to 33 nonprofit organizations across Northern New England. Funding will support a wide range of initiatives, including food security programs, literacy and youth education, affordable housing, workforce development, and arts and cultural opportunities, enhancing quality of life throughout the region.
"Strong communities depend on organizations that meet local needs and create opportunities for people to thrive," said Colin Baier, SVP, Director of Wealth Management and Senior Trust Officer. "Through their work, these organizations make a meaningful difference every day and help strengthen communities across Northern New England."
Grant Recipients Include:
$2,500
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester
Manchester, Hillsborough County, NH
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester empowers young people through safe and impactful experiences that help them reach their full potential. In September 2026, the organization will open a new location within the Mark Stebbins Community Center on Manchester's West Side, expanding access to after-school and enrichment programming for approximately 150 children in pre-K through fourth grade. The grant will help equip a new STEAM lab with tablets, science kits, microscopes, electronics kits, art supplies, and other hands-on learning materials that support age-appropriate science, technology, engineering, arts, and math activities.
$5,000
Community Caregivers of Greater Derry
Derry, Rockingham County, NH
Community Caregivers of Greater Derry helps older adults and individuals with disabilities remain safe and independent through volunteer-driven support services and its Loaner's Closet program. Each year, more than 440 volunteers assist over 1,200 clients across seven Southern New Hampshire communities, while the Loaner's Closet provides free, durable medical equipment to more than 3,000 individuals statewide. Funding from this grant will support volunteer coordination, training, program operations, and the continued distribution of essential medical equipment and safety aids.
$5,000
The Gorham Food Pantry
Gorham, Cumberland County, ME
For more than 25 years, The Gorham Food Pantry has helped address food insecurity for local residents in need and currently serves more than 100 families each month. As demand continues to grow, the pantry is expanding its storage capacity with a new walk-in refrigerator and freezer, creating substantially more room to store fresh produce and other items. The grant will support site preparation and construction of a concrete pad for the project, enabling the pantry to store and distribute more fresh, nutritious food to the community.
