Bangor, ME: The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation is proud to announce the 2025
Community Matters More grant recipients, as selected by thousands of votes from community members across Maine and New Hampshire. Forty-four
nonprofit organizations will receive more than
$140,000 in grants through The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation’s Community Matters More program, which empowers residents to support nonprofits in their communities.
These organizations address a wide range of local needs – from food security and housing to veteran support, the arts, and mental health services – directly impacting individuals, businesses, and families throughout Northern New England.
Among the 2025 grant recipients is
Welcome to Housing in Old Town, Maine. A $4,000 grant recipient, Welcome to Housing is a household goods organization that provides essential items such as cookware, bedding, and furniture to individuals and families transitioning from area shelters to permanent housing. The organization serves a broad population, including veterans and people displaced by fire or domestic violence.
Vouchers for Veterans in Rochester, New Hampshire, was awarded a $4,000 grant to expand its mission to connect veterans with fresh, locally grown food. The nonprofit distributes farmers’ market vouchers to improve nutrition, increase food access, and foster connection and healing among veterans.
“Each year, we are inspired by the dedication and passion of local nonprofits, and we are proud to support their efforts,” said
Gavin Robinson, Vice President, Community Relations Manager at Bangor Savings Bank. “The Community Matters More program is a testament to the power of community engagement and the incredible impact these organizations have on our Northern New England communities.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine, a $3,000 grant recipient, recently celebrated its award with a check presentation. As one of many organizations focused on building stronger, more connected communities, its work in youth mentorship reflects Community Matters More mission of uplifting essential services across the region.
