The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation has awarded $87,450 in grants to 27 nonprofit organizations across Northern New England. These grant awards support a wide range of initiatives that strengthen community well‑being, from food and housing access to education, youth development, and other essential social services.

“These organizations reflect our commitment to supporting a diverse range of causes across the Foundation’s service area, positively impacting the Northern New England economy and addressing needs that are important to our communities,” said Wendy Durrah, Senior Vice President, Chief of Staff, and the Foundation’s Secretary & Clerk.

These grant recipients are making meaningful contributions in Maine and New Hampshire. Among them:

$2,000
Common Good Soup Kitchen
Southwest Harbor, Hancock County, ME
The Common Good Soup Kitchen provides free meals, grocery deliveries, and pantry support to residents across Mount Desert Island, fostering community connection and year‑round access to nutritious food. Seasonal “pay‑what‑you‑want” popovers help sustain its programs during the busy summer months. Funding will strengthen the kitchen’s pantry and meal initiatives by supporting the purchase of supplemental groceries and ingredients for families, elders, and individuals with disabilities.

$5,000
Family Promise of Southern New Hampshire
Nashua, Hillsborough County, NH
Family Promise of Southern New Hampshire helps families experiencing homelessness achieve long‑term stability through safe housing, education, and supportive services. The organization has maintained an over 80% success rate in guiding families toward sustainable independence. The grant will assist with the expansion and operation of its new Derry, NH facility, increasing access to homelessness prevention, transitional housing, and family stabilization services.

$2,500
Northern Forest Center
Colebrook, Coös County, NH
The Northern Forest Center strengthens rural communities across the four‑state Northern Forest region by advancing local economic development and sustainable forest stewardship. The organization partners with towns to create thriving communities connected to the region’s natural landscape. Funding will help further the Colebrook Area Outdoor Recreation Economy Initiative through the creation of a regional ArcGIS StoryMap and a gravel cycling guidebook highlighting local recreation opportunities.
