Bangor, ME (April 9, 2024): The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation is proud to announce the 2024 Community Matters More winners, a result of the active participation and votes from Maine and New Hampshire residents. These votes have led to 44 nonprofit organizations receiving more than $140,000 in grants through The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation’s Community Matters More program. These organizations provide vital programs, including supporting literacy, food security, access to housing, and mental health services, positively impacting our communities. Among the 2024 winners are Pay It Forward For Kids, a $3,000 grant recipient, and Austin17 House, awarded a $4,000 grant.

Pay It Forward For Kids in Searsport, Maine, supports children in need by providing essential school supplies and basic necessities for academic success. The Community Matters More grant builds upon a $1,000 donation from local community construction workers who recently banded together to support Pay It Forward For Kids’ mission to help children in Waldo County live fuller, happier, and more enriching lives.

Meanwhile, in Brentwood, New Hampshire, Austin17 House offers crucial support through mentorship and workshops addressing mental health, suicide prevention, and substance abuse. Founded by Mark Anderson in memory of his son, Austin Joseph Anderson, the organization stands as a beacon of hope and resilience in Rockingham County.

“These nonprofits reflect our community's unwavering commitment to supporting one another,”  said Lannie Moffatt, EVP, Chief Operating Officer at Bangor Savings Bank. “By aligning our philanthropic efforts with the needs that resonate most with our employees, customers, and community members, we can amplify the positive impact these organizations have in our community members' daily lives."
